Marching Ants
Supplies: Ant Tiny peg stamp Cardstock half-sheet, folded White cardstock quarter-sheet (5.5 x 4.25 inches) White cardstock work sheet (used as a background when chalking) Black cardstock strip - .75-inch x 5.5 inches Black cardstock scraps Green cardstock scraps White cardstock scraps Chalk – Blue, Yellow, Charcoal Inks – Versacolor Green Tea, Archival Black Chalk Template – Square Punches – Medium Circle, Medium Square, and Medium Scalloped Circle Ribbon – 5.5 inches long Cuttlebug embossing envelope – Swiss Dots
Instructions: Make the card-front by chalking the quarter sheet with blue chalk in random patterns. Using Archival Black ink, stamp random patterns with the Ant stamp. Use Charcoal Chalk to brighten the Ants. Then use Versacolor Green Tea ink and stamp the Ant stamp all around the outer edge of the quarter-sheet. Smudge with Blue Chalk. Glue the quarter-sheet to the folded half-sheet and set aside.
Locate the work sheet you used to chalk the quarter-sheet and cut out a square 2.5 x 2.5-inch piece, with criss-crossed Blue Chalk patterns. Use the Square Chalking Template and Yellow Chalk to create a yellow square pattern in the center of this piece. Stamp some more Ants inside the yellow part of the square – in a random pattern for more detail and chalk with Yellow Chalk if you like. Around the very edge of this square, use the Ant stamp and Black ink and make a marching ants pattern. Now glue this whole piece to Green cardstock and trim away the excess, leaving a quarter-inch border. Repeat with black cardstock, this time leaving only a pinstripe.
Run the Black cardstock strip through the embossing envelope and glue it down to the card-front. Glue the ribbon beside it.
Using another scrap from the chalking work sheet, stamp the Ant in Black ink and then punch out with the Scalloped Circle Punch. Punch a Circle of Black cardstock and glue the scalloped circle (with the ant) to it. Cut out four Black cardstock squares and glue onto the square piece you worked on earlier. Glue the round Ant medallion to the four squares. Glue the square ensemble to the card-front and you’re done.
